The pictures on the right side speak for themselves.
The following reasons show clearly why I was deeply motivated to get a school building for the children:
- Classes were last held on 2 large terraces of a residential
house
- Whether and when lessons could take place was totally
weather-dependent, because the lessons took place
under the open sky.
- The classes had to start at 7:00 a.m., because from
10:00 a.m. it became unbearably hot, in March it was
about 40 degrees.
- In the hot season, no lessons were possible, and no lessons during rain and during the monsoon.
This added up to many weeks during the year.
- There was no possibility to fix blackboards or diagrams
anywhere.
- There were no toilets. The boys had to stand outside
somewhere, the girls had to run home
Here is the latest news from December 2022:
After an incredibly long wait, I was able to visit the shell of the school in December. As you can see in the pictures, it is a very massive, earthquake-proof building.
It consists of 6 classrooms, 1 teachers' room, 1 multi-purpose room,
1 kitchen and 5 toilets.
